Budgets

A tool's budget bounds one call to it, in wasm instructions run and in rows read and written.

  • Without a budget, a call may run 1,000,000,000 instructions and read and write 1,000,000 rows.
  • An owner sets one with PUT /services/{owner}/{name}/tools/{tool}/budget and {"instructions": 50000000, "rows": 1000}. rows counts rows read and written together. It applies from the next call.
  • Each value is at least 1 and at most the default.
  • GET /services/{owner}/{name}/terms answers each public tool's budget, to anyone.

Past a budget

  • Instructions. The call is stopped.
  • Rows. The next statement that reads or writes is refused, and the program can handle the error. The statement that crossed the budget runs to its end.
